👻 it's spooky season: Peek at the Week (Oct 26-Nov 1)
This is Halloween (Halloween, Halloween)
Hey folks, happy Monday to you.
It's a quieter week than usual, I assume because everyone is clearing the road for the enormous impending launch of Grand Theft Auto VI, but have no fear spooky fans, between sales and new releases you're going to be well taken care of this week.
Let's jump into what's going on.
Releases
🛖 REKA exits Early Access today (Oct 26) in this witchy, cozy game. As apprentice to Baba Jaga, forage, craft, cook, and commune with nature in a world inspired by Slavic mythology
🚬 The final chapter of the Remothered series launches this week, just in time for Halloween. Remothered: Red Nun's Legacy (Oct 27) is a love letter to classic survival horror games with a sprinkle of hypnosis powers for good measure
☁️ Take to the skies either alone or with friends in ATMOSFAR (Oct 29), which also launches into Early Access this week. Explore humanity's final outpost and scavenge for supplies on your journey
🔨 Ever been to one of those rage rooms to take your anger and frustration out? The narrative game equivalent, Virtue and a Sledgehammer (Oct 27), is out this week
📫 Spy on the locals in surreal adventure game Tom the Postgirl (Oct 29). As the new postie in town, deliver mail to the village and peek through windows to see just what everyone is getting up to
🤑 Earn enough to pay back your loans and cover your rising rent in Probably Stolen - Cyberpunk Shopkeeper Sim (Oct 28). Navigate legal and moral gray areas while selling an array of weapons, chemicals, and contraband to customers while trying not to get on the wrong side of the law
⚔️ Zip between platforms using your magic sword in Queen's Domain (Oct 30), a retro-fantasy action RPG that's being compared to FromSoftware's King's Field games
Big release of the week: Bigby's back in The Wolf Among Us Remastered, but the big release this week has got to be Phantom Blade Zero (OCt 28), the OTT (in all the best ways) kungfupunk action game from S-GAME Studio
S-GAME Publishing
S-GAME presents Phantom Blade Zero, a fusion of classic Wuxia storytelling and exhilarating action powered by Unreal Engine 5. You play as Soul, a warrior with only sixty-six days left to live. Fend off assassins, unravel world-ending conspiracies, and defend your values with your life.
Events
- It's Steam Scream V (Oct 26-Nov 2), a huge sale on spooky games that'll scare you silly, including 20% off new release Tenebris Somnia (one of my picks from Summer Game Fest Play Days!)
- The Epic Games Store Halloween Sale is also running, with up to 80% off games like Dead Space (a personal fave, I'm gutted we aren't going to get a remake of its sequel)
Thanks for reading! I'll be back on Wednesday with a bonus newsletter for you, catch you then!
