Point-and-Click Showcase and more! Peek at the Week (Nov 2-8)
Point-and-click (on this email)
Hello! Hope you had a lovely and spooky Halloween weekend.
As mentioned, I went up to London, Ontario to play in the first inaugural Warframe Portau tournament! Team Volt (only ever said aloud like "STEVE HOLT") reached the finals!! Huge shout out to my teammates Simone de Rochefort and Lauren Bergin for an incredible weekend, and of course, thanks to the incredible Warframe team and community for putting on an amazing event to raise a buttload of money to help beat cancer! You can watch the VOD here.
Let's dive into what's popping off this week in the world of indies.
But before we do, I have five copies of TANUKI: Pon's Summer to give away thanks to publisher Critical Reflex. If you're a paid LFG Supporter, first of all: thank you!! Second of all, head over to the Discord and join in the #giveaways channel. You have until Monday November 9 to enter!
If you'd like to support LFG and to get access to giveaways and bonus newsletters, consider subscribing!
New releases
Here are the games I've got my eye on this week.
🩸 Death at Fleming Manor (Nov 3) is the game I was hinting at that I was playing and loving last week. I'll have my review going up in Wednesday's bonus newsletter, but if you're a fan of The Golden Idol Saga or Return of the Obra Dinn, you'll adore this one as much as I do
😈 Tactics meets monsters meets... food delivery? As the last chef in the world, hunt monsters and cook 'em into delicious meals in tactical roguelike Food Devils. UPDATE: Due to a backlog in Steam's approval process, Food Devils will no longer be launching tomorrow. I'll update when there's a date!
🐎 I was never a horse girl growing up, but I might become one thanks to Horses of Hoofprint Bay (Nov 4). Raise and train horses, manage your stables, and explore the beautiful hand-drawn trails of Hoofprint Bay
🏛️ I may not have been a horse girl as a kid, but I definitely was a history nut (shout out to Caesar™ 3). Theos: Cities Of Myth (Nov 4) looks to scratch that classic city-builder itch, and it's coming out on Wednesday
🏐 just volleyball (Nov 4) does what it says on the tin: it's just volleyball. This demo was a huge hit during the latest Next Fest, and I imagine its full release this week will cause a big... spike in popularity (I'm sorry)
🚀 Build and maintain your ship's integrity in Hull Rupture (Nov 4), the tower defense strategy game that sees you repel waves after waves of aliens from your ship in order to save humanity
🗝️ School's in session! Escape some life-threatening puzzle rooms alone or with pals in Escape Academy 2: Back 2 School (Nov 5)
🧽 Poof! Cleaning Services aka Clean Start (Nov 5) is a little bit Hozy and a little bit Unpacking, with more of an emphasis on telling you a story about the rooms you're cleaning than letting you infer it. These kinds of games are my ultimate kinds of things to relax to, so I'm eager to give this one a try
🧝♀️ Hey, listen! The big release of the week is obviously The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake (Nov 5), a modern remaking of perhaps the greatest game ever made. I've never actually played it, so I'm very excited to finally try it out this week on Switch 2

Nintendo, Gradiente, iQue
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is the fifth main installment of The Legend of Zelda series and the first to be released for the Nintendo 64. It was one of the most highly anticipated games of its age, and is listed among the greatest video games ever created by numerous websites and magazines. The gameplay of Ocarina of Time was revolutionary for its time, it has arguably made more of an impact on later games in the series than any of its predecessors even though they had the same cores of exploration, dungeons, puzzles and item usage. Among the gameplay mechanics, one of the most noteworthy is the time-traveling system. The game begins with the player controlling the child Link, but later on an adult Link becomes a playable character as well and each of them has certain unique abilities. Ocarina of Time also introduces the use of music to solve puzzles: as new songs are learned, they can be used to solve puzzles, gain access to new areas and warp to different locations. Dungeon exploration is somewhat more puzzle-oriented than in earlier games but they are not too complex.
Events
- The first ever Point-and-Click Showcase is happening on Wednesday November 4 at 6 pm CET / 9 am PST / 12 pm EDT. It's a trailer showcase entirely dedicated to, ya guessed it, point-and-click games. There'll be over 35 upcoming games in the showcase and there'll be a Steam sale alongside the event running from today (Nov 2) to November 9. The event has been put together by Amanita Design (Machinarium) and Rusty Lake (Servant of the Lake), who definitely know their onions when it comes to point-and-click games
- AdventureX 2026, an in-person narrative games convention takes place this weekend (November 7-8) in London. If you can't make it in person, keep an eye on their Steam page for discounts, demos, and a live stream of the talks and fireside chats
That about does it! I'll catch you on Wednesday for my deeper dive into Death at Fleming Manor and more! See you then, and thanks for reading!
