Peek at the Week [Oct 12-18]
PLUS: TOEM 2 and over the hill giveaways!
Hey folks! Hope you had a great weekend!
I'm very eager for the spooky season to get going: I've got a bunch of horror movies on my list to watch (does You Can See Everything count?) and I'm prepping all of my favorite holiday treats for the long cold nights.
Horror fans rejoice, we have so many game releases this week as we get closer and closer to Halloween, so let's dig in.
Giveaways
You read that right, I've got two giveaways for paid LFG Supporters this week! Both will end on Sunday October 18 at 1:30 PM PT, so make sure you link your Discord and join in the #giveaways channel.
If you're not a paid Supporter, sign up here for extra newsletters and plenty of giveaways!
First up, to celebrate the launch of TOEM 2, the lovely folks at Something We Made and popagenda have given me a box of goodies to give away to one lucky winner, including an Instax Mini 13 camera so you can go on your own photo adventure! Due to postage, the winner must reside in the Continental US.
But not to worry if you're not in the US! I also have 5 Steam codes for over the hill, a charming off roading game that I think is going to be bloody massive. Best of luck!
Releases
These are the games to keep an eye on this week 👀
🎨 Hue goes there? Use color to shape the environment in adorable puzzler Color Bound (October 12)
🃏 Did someone say occult deckbuilder? Burn With Me (October 12) somehow makes the strange and spooky feel cozy in this gorgeous story-driven game where you summon your own Personal Demon
⚔️ The big release this week is Valor Mortis (October 13), a first-person soulslike from One More Level, the team behind Ghostrunner and its sequel. You play as a mostly-dead member of Napoleon's army, brought back to life to a Europe that's decimated by a mysterious plague

Lyrical Games, One More Level
Valor Mortis is a first-person action soulslike from the creators of Ghostrunner. Rise from death as a former soldier of Napoleon’s army. Wield supernatural powers, battle horrifying monsters, and unravel a conspiracy that threatens all of humanity.
🚌 Thank You Bus Driver (October 14) is the first game to be released under Double Fine's new sublabel, Double Fine Action Labs. Pick up passengers, make sure they obey the rules, and get them where they need to go in this slap happy adventure
🛻 over the hill (October 14) is a wonderful time whether you're playing alone or with friends. Off road in classic 4x4s, take pics of the beautiful scenery, and explore with the wind in your hair (wind may need to be simulated by a fan)
🧛🏻 Whip it good in Castlevania: Belmont's Curse (October 14). Developed by Evil Empire, the team behind the Dead Cells DLCs and The Rogue Prince of Persia, it looks to be a stylish and spooky addition to your October games
🏰 DESOLUS (October 15) is certainly ones for fans of games like Portal to take note of. Explore the past and future of a gorgeous city through the black holes that have erupted there
😈 Speaking of spooky season, I had a great time with Tenebris Somnia's (October 16) demo earlier this year: a mix of 2D retro survival horror (and boy are we eating good with those recently!) and gorgeously gruesome live action cutscenes
🐧 Penguin Colony (October 16) was one of the very first games I wrote about here on LFG, and it's coming out this Friday! It's a take on Lovecraft's At The Mountains Of Madness, but from the point of view of penguins. I can't wait to finally play the whole thing.
